The Children’s Disability Network Team (CDNT) in Laois provides exceptional care and support to children with a variety of developmental and communication needs. Their team works collaboratively to ensure that children and families receive the highest standard of services in a supportive, child-centered environment.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Staff Grade Speech and Language Therapist to join our client’s dynamic team. In this role, you will assess, treat, and support children with speech, language, and communication difficulties, working collaboratively with other professionals to provide holistic, person-centered care. You will play a key role in helping children reach their full potential through tailored speech and language therapy interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive assessments and evidence-based therapy for children with speech, language, and communication difficulties.
- Develop individualised therapy plans to support children’s needs and progress.
- Work closely with families, caregivers, and educational staff to offer guidance and support in managing communication difficulties.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure coordinated and integrated care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, reports, and treatment plans.
- Contribute to team meetings, case discussions, and service development initiatives.
- Support the development and training of staff and families in communication strategies.
Requirements:
- A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- Registration with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist.
- Experience in working with children, particularly in a paediatric or disability setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience with children with complex communication needs.
- Familiarity with relevant frameworks for paediatric speech and language therapy.
