Reporting to: Senior Physiotherapist/Physiotherapy Manager
Salary: Competitive, in line with HSE pay scales
Contract: Fixed-Term contract
Shift Pattern: Monday-Friday
Job Purpose:
The Physiotherapist will provide high-quality physiotherapy services to adults and older persons within the service. The role involves assessing, planning, and implementing individualized treatment programs aimed at maximizing functional independence, improving mobility, and enhancing the overall quality of life for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Assessment and Treatment:
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical abilities, functional limitations, and overall health.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, clinical guidelines, and patient goals.
- Use a range of therapeutic techniques and interventions, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, and electrotherapy.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment programs, making adjustments as necessary.
- Patient Management:
- Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to deliver holistic care.
- Educate patients and their families on condition management, injury prevention, and health promotion.
- Provide advice and support to patients on the use of mobility aids, adaptive equipment, and home exercise programs.
- Prepare patients for discharge by ensuring continuity of care through
- appropriate referrals to community services.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive patient records in accordance with hospital/clinic policies and legal requirements.
- Prepare reports and documentation for case reviews, multidisciplinary meetings, and discharge planning.
- Professional Development:
- Stay updated with current best practices, research, and developments in physiotherapy, particularly in the care of adults and older persons.
- Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) activities, including training sessions, workshops, and conferences.
- Supervise and mentor junior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students as required.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Comply with the policies and procedures of [Hospital/Clinic Name], including infection control, safeguarding, and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Essential:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent.
- CORU registration
- Experience working with adults and older persons, either in a hospital, clinic, or community setting.
- Desirable:
- Experience in a specialized area such as neurology, orthopedics, or geriatrics.
- Postgraduate training or certifications relevant to the care of adults and older persons.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
