Social Care Worker
Medforce are seeking a Social Care Worker for a highly reputable residential service based in Kildare.
Our client offers a residential service that caters for individuals with intellectual disabilities and other kinds of special needs. Our client offers homes for individuals with disabilities – to live, learn, and work with others in energetic reciprocal relationships.
The Social Care Worker will support adults with intellectual disabilities in achieving the highest possible level of independence and personal development. You will promote a person-centred approach and work as part of a team to deliver high-quality care and support within a residential and/or day service setting.
Support & Advocacy

Promote the rights, dignity, and choices of individuals using the service.

Encourage participation in decision-making, community life, and personal hobbies.

Act as a Key Worker, developing and implementing person-centred plans.

Support individuals with daily living tasks including personal care, nutrition, and independent living skills.

Assist in medical appointments and coordinate healthcare needs.
Service Delivery
-
Facilitate social, recreational, and skill-building activities.
-
Implement behaviour support plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment.

Promote inclusion using community-based services and supports.
Leadership & Teamwork
-
Support and guide team members, students, and volunteers as needed.

Ensure compliance with all relevant standards (e.g., HIQA, health and safety).

Monitor household operations and contribute to team meetings and planning.
Administration & Records
-
Maintain accurate records of individual support, finances, and incidents.

Manage petty cash and personal finances responsibly.

Participate in audits and reviews.
Health & Safety
-
Promote safe working practices and participate in fire drills and risk assessments.
-
Report concerns immediately to the Person in Charge.
Essential Requirements

Level 7 QQI degree in Social Care Studies or related field.

Minimum 1 year’s experience supporting individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding, HIQA standards, and person-centred planning.

Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
-
Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and overnights.
-
Full driver’s licence and willingness to drive service vehicles.
