Our client operates a residential service, boasting a life-sharing community where people with intellectual disabilities and support needs live, work, and grow alongside volunteers and professionals in a spirit of mutual respect, equality, and shared responsibility.
The Social Care Worker (SCW) will support individuals with intellectual disabilities to live fullfiling, independent lives within the community.
You will work collaboratively with the Shift Lead and Person in Charge to deliver person-centered support for all residents.
Key Responsibilities
1. Resident Support & Advocacy
- Promote residents’ rights, dignity, and independence.
- Support individual hobbies, interests, and community participation.
- Implement and follow behaviour support plans and personal care routines.
2. Person-Centred Planning
- Act as a Key Worker and lead in developing individual care plans.
- Support daily living skills, social integration, and healthy routines.
- Facilitate leisure, training, and religious/pastoral activities.
3. Household & Daily Operations
- Maintain a safe, clean, and homely environment.
- Assist with household duties, laundry, personal hygiene, and meal prep.
- Promote responsible money management and daily living activities.
- Participate in transporting residents and liaising with day services.
4. Leadership & Compliance
- Support the house team, coordinate schedules, and assist with training.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and comply with HIQA standards.
5. Financial Management
- Manage petty cash, residents’ personal funds, and house accounts responsibly.
Requirements
- Level 7 QQI qualification in Social Care (or equivalent).
- Minimum 1 year’s experience with adults with intellectual disabilities.
- Full driving license and access to own car (essential).
