In this role, you will provide expert assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with a range of communication and swallowing disorders. You will play a pivotal role in supporting patients through their recovery journey, collaborating with medical professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.
This position also offers the opportunity to engage in service development initiatives, mentor junior staff, and contribute to continuous improvement within the speech and language therapy department.

Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Care: Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide evidence-based interventions for patients with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders (including dysphagia).
- Individualized Treatment: Develop and implement tailored therapy plans to meet the diverse needs of patients in an acute setting.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with medical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver integrated, patient-centered care.
- Family and Staff Education: Provide training and guidance to patients, families, and healthcare staff on communication strategies and swallowing management.
- Service Development: Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and contribute to the ongoing development of therapy services.
- Clinical Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in line with professional and legal standards.
- Mentorship: Provide supervision and mentorship to junior Speech and Language Therapists and support staff.

Requirements:
- A recognized qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (validated by CORU).
- Current CORU registration is essential.
- Minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally in an acute hospital setting.
- Proven experience in managing dysphagia and complex swallowing disorders.
- Excellent clinical reasoning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage a complex caseload.
