Person in Charge
Medforce are delighted to recruit on behalf of a client based in Wexford who offers a residential service that caters for individuals with intellectual disabilities and other kinds of special needs. Our client offers homes for individuals with disabilities – to live, learn, and work with others in energetic reciprocal relationships.
The Person in Charge (PIC) will be responsible for leading and managing day-to-day operations across designated residential, supported living, and day services. This includes ensuring high-quality, person-centred support and compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
40 hours per week + on call hours.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Governance
- Lead the service in line with the mission, values, and vision of our client.
- Report to Senior Management on service performance and strategic developments.
- Manage staff teams and ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Ensure compliance with HIQA regulations and Service Level Agreements.
Operational Management
- Maintain a safe and supportive environment for individuals using the service.
- Promote a culture of zero tolerance to abuse.
- Oversee implementation of person-centred plans, safeguarding practices, and risk management strategies.
- Respond effectively to complaints and incidents.
- Manage audits, reviews, and continuous improvement.
Staffing
- Ensure adequate staffing levels and skills mix based on resident needs.
- Manage recruitment, supervision, training, and appraisals.
- Participate in on-call duties and ensure workforce flexibility.
Finance
- Oversee budgeting, financial planning, and resource management in collaboration with the Finance Team.
- Safeguard residents’ personal finances and ensure compliance with financial procedures.
Service User Engagement
- Promote autonomy, choice, and inclusion for individuals using the service.
- Facilitate access to advocacy, family contact, and community engagement.
Partnership & Compliance
- Liaise with external bodies such as the HSE, HIQA, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure timely submission of required reports and maintain records in line with data protection policies.
Health & Safety
- Comply with health, safety, fire, and infection control regulations.
- Ensure safe use and maintenance of all equipment.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Level 7 qualification in Social Care or equivalent.
- 5+ years’ experience in health or social care.
- 3+ years in a senior management role.
- Strong knowledge of HIQA standards, safeguarding legislation, and disability services.
- Proficiency in service planning, change management, and risk oversight.
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in management.
- Experience with social enterprise or innovation programmes.
- Familiarity with the HSE’s New Directions model.
