Medforce are working closely to hire an Occupational Therapist into Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, this is a busy acute hospital within the Ireland East Hospital Group, providing a wide range of services including emergency care, medical and surgical specialties, paediatrics, and maternity. The Occupational Therapy Department plays a key role in patient recovery, functional rehabilitation, and safe discharge planning. This position is available for either a Staff or Senior OT.
Responsibilities of Occupational Therapist
- Undertake comprehensive functional assessments of patients referred from medical, surgical, orthopaedic, and other wards.
- Deliver individualised, evidence-based interventions to support activities of daily living (ADLs), mobility, cognition, and environmental adaptation.
- Liaise with patients, families, and community teams to ensure effective discharge planning and continuity of care.
- Contribute to multi-disciplinary ward rounds, team meetings, and case conferences.
- Provide timely and accurate documentation in line with HSE and hospital policy.
- Participate in service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives within the department.
- Maintain CPD and participate in supervision, peer review, and team learning sessions.
Requirements of Occupational Therapist
- Hold a recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy approved by CORU.
- Be registered (or eligible for registration) with CORU as an Occupational Therapist.
- Demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and reasoning skills relevant to acute care.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience in acute hospital settings or post-acute rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of manual handling, equipment prescription, and home assessments.
- Experience with discharge planning and liaising with community services.
