Occupational Therapist
Our client is seeking a Staff Grade Occupational Therapist to join the Primary Care Adult Team in Galway. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated occupational therapist with some experience in primary care to work in a community-based setting, supporting adults with a range of physical, functional, and cognitive challenges.
As part of the Primary Care team, you will play a key role in assessing, planning, and implementing interventions that enhance independence and promote well-being. You will have the opportunity to work closely with clients and their families, developing tailored treatment plans that address their unique needs.

Key Responsibilities of the Occupational Therapist:
- Provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions to adults in the community.
- Develop and implement individualised treatment plans focused on functional independence and improving quality of life.
- Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and social workers, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
- Conduct home environment assessments and provide recommendations for adaptations and assistive devices.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records, ensuring compliance with HSE guidelines and best practices.
- Participate in service development initiatives, contributing to the ongoing improvement of primary care services.
Essential Criteria for the Occupational Therapist:
- Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy
- CORU registration (or eligibility for registration)
- Some experience working in a primary care setting
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable:
- Experience working with adults with physical, sensory, or cognitive impairments
- Knowledge of assistive technology and home adaptations
- Experience delivering group-based interventions or health promotion programs
