We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team in a Care of the Elderly facility in Offaly. This role involves working with older adults in both long-term care and short-term rehabilitation beds, supporting their recovery, independence, and quality of life. The successful candidate will assess, plan, and deliver goal-focused interventions to facilitate functional recovery and promote well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for older adults in long-term and short-term rehabilitation care.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans focusing on mobility, daily living activities, and cognitive function.
- Provide rehabilitation interventions aimed at maximizing independence and preventing further decline.
- Facilitate discharge planning by liaising with families, caregivers, and community-based services to ensure smooth transitions home.
- Recommend and implement assistive devices, adaptations, and environmental modifications to support functional independence.
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, including nurses, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, and social workers.
- Deliver group therapy programs for cognitive stimulation, falls prevention, and functional rehabilitation.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with professional and organizational standards.
- Participate in service development initiatives to improve the quality of care for elderly patients.
- Provide education and training to staff and families on topics such as dementia care, seating and positioning, and manual handling.
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy, or an equivalent qualification recognized by CORU.
- CORU Registration as an Occupational Therapist (or eligibility to register).
- Experience in functional assessments, seating and postural management, falls prevention, and dementia care would be ideal.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a person-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Full clean driving license and access to a vehicle for community visits if required.
