Medical Scientist – Biochemistry
Medforce have partnered with one of the most technologically advanced private hospitals in Europe to hire a Staff Grade Medical Scientist (Biochemistry). This position is located in South Dublin.
The Medical Scientist will provide routine laboratory services, support cross-disciplinary testing, and assist in quality assurance, under the direction of the Chief Medical Scientist and Laboratory Manager.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Duties
- Perform and validate tests in accordance with JCI and INAB standards.
- Support quality assurance, audits, and best practice protocols.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of SOPs and lab documentation.
- Ensure effective stock management, record-keeping, and incident reporting.
- Assist in evaluating lab equipment, supplies, and research projects.
Service Delivery
- Prioritise and manage workflow during peak times.
- Participate in on-call duties as needed.
- Ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
Health, Safety & Quality
- Support compliance with health and safety policies and procedures.
- Contribute to maintaining accreditation and quality control standards.
IT & Reporting
- Assist with lab information system development.
- Support departmental data analysis and reporting needs.
Person Specification
- Eligible for Academy of Medical Laboratory Science membership or equivalent.
- CORU registered.
- At least 1 year of in-service training across disciplines.
- Biochemistry experience essential; post-qualification experience desirable.
- On-call experience preferred.
Skills & Attributes
- Strong organisational, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Adaptable to evolving lab and healthcare environments.
Knowledge
- Solid understanding of modern lab practices, accreditation, and safety standards.
- Familiarity with LIS, hospital operations, and IT systems is a plus.
